Artist Alice Briggs creates a 30 x 30 metre sand portrait at Ynyslas beach, Borth, of Richard Davies, Deck Hand, DA/9/88, Royal Naval Reserve from Borth, who served in the First World War.
The project is inspired by film-maker Danny Boyle to mark 100 years since Armistice and the end of the First World War:
On 11 November 2018, communities will gather on beaches across the UK to say goodbye and thank you, to the millions of men and women who left their shores during the war, many never to return.
This also forms part of a broader piece of work – The Unreturning – which includes pictures from the D-Day 60 and D-Day 70 commemorations.
*These images represent and uncurated collection of images. At the end of the project, I will curate a collection of photographs that, when considered together, best represent the theme.
