Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph some of the Extinction Rebellion climate change protesters (24/04/19) in Parliament Square, London – mixed in with the pro and anti Brexit demonstrators.

The Extinction Rebellion protests, which lasted for more than a week during April 2019, have saw nearly 800 people arrested.

The protesters haf three key demands:

  • For the government to “tell the truth” about climate change
  • To reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2025
  • To create a citizens’ assembly to oversee progress.

Speaking at a rally in Marble Arch, Actress Emma Thompson said:

“Our Planet is in deep danger, our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren are going to face problems the likes of which we cannot even begin to imagine.

The protests were suspended on 25 April 2019.
