ARGENTO – Silver – was a performance recently by the Atlanta-based contemporary dance company Staibdance in Sant’Agata’s central piazza, Sorrento, Italy.
This years performance marked the 10th anniversary of Staibdance’s Italian summer workshop and included a partnership with a prestigious dance school in Naples.
”The 2019 program serves as a meeting place for emerging and established movement artists and includes a partnership with a prestigious dance school in Naples. Participants are encouraged to create collaboratively, embrace spontaneity, build foundations for life-long connections, and hone their authentic, unique voices.”
Staibdance was founded in 2007 by George Staib (Artistic Director) and works to boost the visibility and viability of contemporary dance in the Southeast through performances, workshops, and educational programming and has been commissioned by companies in the US and in Europe. The establishment of the Staibdance Summer Intensive in Sorrento, Italy, expanded this mission to include cultural and international exchange.
Born in Tehran, Artistic Director George Staib often draws on his early memories of pre-Revolutionary Iran and his migration to the United States for movement inspiration.
I cannot think of a better setting in which to grow as an artist, a performer and a citizen of the world. George Staib
