Post-Covid Staycation
We visited the Birmingham 2022 Games, in August 2022 and these images represent a new stage in the Staycation series – a Post-Covid period where many of the legal obligations have been replaced with Covid Safe guidelines.
Commonwealth Games 2022
Birmingham was chosen as the host city for the XXII Commonwealth Games – known as Birmingham 2022.
The Commonwealth Games – sometimes called the Friendly Games – were first held in 1930 for athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The games are now held every 4 years and this year’s games is the largest ever (72 participating nations), including ‘a fully integrated Para Sport programme’.
A large mechanical bull – known as ‘Raging Bull’ has dominated Centenary Square in the centre of the city supporting the games mission to
showcase the best of Birmingham, the West Midlands and the Commonwealth.
These images were taken in Birmingham city centre.

Staycation
These images form part of a mini-series called ‘staycation’.
Staycation is a mini Covid-19 series that features trips to local tourist attractions, often National Trust properties, that represent an alternative to holidays away – as these have been curtailed by Covid-19 restrictions.
