Canada 2012
We visited Canada in 2012 after a short stay in London to see the 2012 Olympic Games. Flying into Calgary, we travelled west to Vancouver before sailing up the Inside Passage – the coastal route which passes through the islands on the Pacific Northwest coast of the ‘North American Fjordland’.
Knight Inlet and Glendale Cove
Only accessible by flying boat, Knight inlet is situated 70 kilometres north of Campbell River, on a 125km long fjord that passes through both some of the most remote and stunning scenery in British Columbia.
The inlet was once the site of a cannery and a First Nations village before becoming a notorious hunting lodge and, finally, a tourist location to see wildlife including brown bears and eagles.
By this stage of the journey my 24-70 had stopped working completely and my 120-400 was showing signs of serious deterioration – which left a fisheye lens and an 85mm as the only usable kit I had!
