Michael Lapage saw service as a Fleet Air Arm pilot in the Pacific during the Second World War where coming close to being shot down had a ‘lasting impact’ on him.

After the war, Lapage returned to the University of Cambridge and was a member of the winning university’s boat in the 1948 Boat Race – going on to win a silver medal rowing at the London 1948  Olympics in the men’s eight.

Michael is photographed in Ypres on 11/11/11.
