The road home…
The journey from Sligachan to Armadale including visiting the statue of climbers John MacKenzie and Norman Collie at Sligachan and the Torabhaig Distillery.
Climbers John MacKenzie and Norman Collie
A bronze sculpture of two climber, created by local artist Stephen Tinney, stands close to the Sligachan on the A87.
The statue is a tribute to crofter John Mackenzie and Professor Norman Collie who formed a long 50 year climbing partnership during which time they mapped and named many of the Cuillin peaks.
The pair pioneered many of the routes we know today and were instrumental in exploring and mapping the Black Cuillin
