South Stack Lighthouse
South Sack Lighthouse sits on a small island a couple of miles to the West of Holyhead at the Northwest end of the island.
Built in 1809, and over 90 feet tall, South Stack Lighthouse was designed by Daniel Alexander with the light visible to shipping nearly 25 mikes away. The lighthouse, which helps shipping navigate through the treacherous Dublin, Holyhead, Liverpool sea route, is now operated operated remotely by Trinity House (a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers).
Elin’s Tower
Elin’s Tower is a Victorian stone tower on Holly Island with spectacular views over South Stack Lighthouse.
The castellated folly was built between 1820 and 1850 for the Stanley family from Penrose and was originally used as a summer house.
