thresholds series two
threshold (noun)…
the level or point at which you start to experience
something, or at which something starts
to happen or change.
thresholds was a micro-project based on a short stay in the small Welsh seaside town of Tenby in October 2020 – between Covid-19 lockdowns. These images were taken on a subsequent stay in October 2021 following some easing on Covid regulations.
The project is influenced by the work of the Tenby poet Alison J Bielski (1925 – 2014) who, according to her critics was, during her lifetime,
considered too “modern”, too “experimental”, too “difficult” because punctuation was reduced to a minimum and no upper-case letters were used in her works.
This collection of images is salvaged from those thresholds – where sea meets land, a place people live, work, come to holiday and where those, who’s business is the sea, cross that threshold daily.
